My Blog

ADHD and Women in Biz

So, I had this wonderful post in my head at 2 am a few days ago, thinking I will do that when I get up. Truth be told a few days ago is probably a week. Personally, I have been told I don’t have ADHD but traits. I don’t even want to entertain if this is only traits what a full diagnosis would be like!

I was also told that I would have had ADHD as a child. I am a little perplexed because it went from ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) to ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and I for one do not have the energy for the hyperactivity component! ADD effectively being distracted, well no arguments there! Then I saw a post by someone around ADHD, about it being hyperactivity of the brain, now that made sense. I literally I exhaust myself to the point of chronic fatigue by thinking and I was thinking it was burn out from the job, which it was, but may not have been as bad if not for this, oh and menopause. Who knows?

This is why I am in a position to help you or someone you know.

The timing is interesting. The big thing being discussed recently is around the onset of ADHD the  menopause spectrum, perimenopause through to post menopause. I can attest to the challenge to say focused, and I would attribute that to the brain fog although I do feel it may be a separate thing as well. Having said that, I have 2 autoimmune conditions so for me, was it menopause? The $64 question.

However, the symptoms and impact are affecting women at all levels and so I am here to support women in business throughout the struggle.

The struggle: Hot flushes/flashes, night sweats, brain fog, memory impairment, weight gain, sleep disruption, a myriad of other things – all variations beyond unique to each of us as individuals….. and then there’s ADHD.

I think a helpful and important thing to do with ADHD, especially if is a new or increasing thing in your biz, is to break down the tasks and consider outsourcing what ever it is that you can – think Virtual Assistant or even a uni intern depending on what it is, dare I say AI – that is another post. Clear and calm the mind right back to what you love to do and take the pressure of yourself.

There are plenty of resources around to assist but there in lies a challenge, I go signing up for every thing in the hope of it being ‘the fix’ or will teach me a new strategy etc but just pour fuel on my fire. So now I have a Trello set up with categories and if I find something I am tempted to dive into, I simply paste the link under the relevant category and sit on it for a minute.

Similar to how they recommend that you leave your cart of goodies from online shopping for a period of time and likelihood is that you will ditch some if not all, saving a lot of money, well this may save you money if the energy and headspace that you have saved means you are more on task in the biz but in the very least it will help to be where you need to be.

Ironically, I may have just talked you out of my offerings but I am ok with that, as long as you get some value and not more extras you don’t need. But keep an eye out to see what I get up to and running into amongst my ADHD journey biz dreams combo!

PS I lost another day before I posted this!!!!
